How to Keep the Summer-Sweaty-Smells from Seeping into your Furniture
We’ve all been there – it’s the middle of summer, it has been very hot and humid with no end or relief in sight. You’re hot, sweaty, and just can’t take it anymore.
In the summer we always tend to retreat to a colder room, usually the one with the air conditioner in the window, or if you’re lucky your home has central air conditioning, or a mini split system room-by-room.
When in that room, you will generally sit, sprawled out, trying to cool down or keep cool. But what about all the oils and aspiration on the outside of your skin? Or what about the cat, or dog, jumping on the furniture just sweating under all of that fir.
Say no more!
At Miller’s Furniture of Mill Hall we *highly* recommend Guardsman Stain & Odor Eliminator, available in a 16 oz. trigger spray bottle. You can use it on more than furniture fabrics!
This odor eliminator removes tough stains and lingering odors from your furniture fabric by binding the eliminating stains and odors from upholstery, carpets, car interiors and more.
This stain and odor eliminator is safe to use and leaves your furniture smelling fresh and clean.
- This product removes food stains (we all eat those chips on the couch), grease, coffee, red wine, blood, and more
- It is effective on urine, pet stains, and other common household stains
- It has a fresh, laundry scent
So how do I use it?
- Test it first in a hidden area.
- Ensure the fabric is clean and dry before applying. Usually taking a vacuum to the fabric is a good first-defense to make sure it is clean. Just wipe down the vacuum nozzle before you do so!
- Protect nearby surfaces from “overspray.”
- Shake the can very well. Two light coats are better than one heavy coat of the spray.
- Using a back and forth motion, spray the furniture protector about 10-12” away from the fabric.
- Lightly coat the fabric. Do not oversaturate.
- Remove and spray cushions individually.
- Leave the fabric to dry for about an hour, then reapply.
One can of the spray is enough to cover a three-seat sofa and one armchair.
The protectant can be reapplied every three to four months, or as needed.
Please note: this product is not appropriate for use on velvet, silk, or other items carrying manufacturers’ gleanability codes of S or X.
